With Osun rerun to go on Thursday, 9/27/2018, One thing is
certain - A winner must emerge. PDP are still ahead of the polls scored
254,698 votes to beat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress who
polled 254,345 votes though inconclusive. The rerun have seven
affected polling units with 3,498 votes which will eventually determine the
winner of the election on Thursday. And like we earlier mentioned in our
post, Omisore popularity is now being tested and embraced by both the PDP and
APC. Omisore has now come out to say that, the people
of Osun should support the party who believe in the values of
SDP. Thursday will surely decide if Adeleke lead will continue and eventually
dance to the governor's house or will the ruling party turn the cards
around and retain the No1 Seat of Osun State.
As Osun State Decide who will be their next
governor for another 4 years, we look at what the chances of the candidates are
in emerging winner for the no 1 seat of Osun State.
Ademola Adeleke (PDP) popular called
the dancing senator is a senator in the National Assembly representing the
Osun-west senatorial district of Osun State. He is from the popular
Adeleke family of Ede in Osun State. The family political awareness can be
recently traced to the Late Isiaka Adeleke, who is the senior brother of
Ademola- he was a former governor in Osun and he was a popular figure who many
refer to as "Serubawon". Ademola who has recently gather many
supporters also because of his nephew - Davido who is a popular musician has
canvassed many for the support of his Uncle.
Chances of Ademola Adeleke: He
could eventually be the winner as he stands a high chance because of his
popularity and his party PDP.
What could stand against him: Certificate
issues and people are not sure if he is really going to deliver.
Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola(APC) is
the candidate of ruling party APC and the current Chief of Staff to the
Governor of the State of Osun. His history can not be traced as a grounded
politician apart from the fact that he has been in politics since the days of
Alliance for Democracy (AD) and was one of the pioneers of the party in Osun
state and has stayed their all through the evolvement of the party to what is
now called APC; but, he enjoys the cover of present governor of the
state Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Chances of Alhaji
Adegboyega Oyetola: He is from the ruling
party both in the state and federal. The president and the National leader of
APC "Buhari & Tinubu" came to campaign for him in a massive
rally. The power of incumbency and the fact that the present governor and
president buhari not ready to loose the state to their fiercest rival
could favour him.
What could stand against him: Ogbeni Rauf
Aregbesola who is the major back bone has been accused of owing salary of
the workers of Osun for several months and the opposition has used it against
his candidate Alhaji Adegboyega
Oyetola.
Alhaji Fatai Akinbade(ADC) is a politician and a
former Secretary to the State
Government in Osun State. He has been in Politics for a while and
also tried to be the governorship flag bearer of the PDP in 2010 but
failed. He is a principled politician who knows what he want.
Chances of Alhaji
Fatai Akinbade: He is a known man and
from a new party that is gathering momentum.
What could stand against him:
People this days vote for political party and money bags and this two
factors could work against him.
Alhaji Moshood Adeoti(ADP) is a
former Secretary to the State Government of Osun State in this present
administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola,
resigned from his position to fly the flag of the APC but dropped interest and
dumped the APC for his new party ADP who has given him the governorship ticket.
Chances of Alhaji
Fatai Akinbade: He is a grass root
politician since 1978, when he was General Secretary Unity Party of
Nigeria, UPN youth and also has politically reached the positions of councilor
of LGA, Coordinator, chairman of LGA and recently before resignation - Secretary
to the State Government of Osun State.
What could stand against him: People
this days vote for political party and money bags and this two
factors could work against him.
Iyiola Omisore(SDP) is an Old war horse and
the most prolific stand out among the contestant. A popular figure in Osun,
former deputy governor of the state and financially strong. Even though he
was still on trial, he was elected to the Senate to represent Osun East
constituency in April 2003 running on the platform of the PDP and served till
the expiration of his term in 2007. He was re-elected in 2007 and appointed to
committees for Police Affairs, Housing, Culture & Tourism, Aviation and
Appropriation.
Chances of Iyiola
Omisore: Very High, in fact- more than
people think.
What could stand against him: The
inner Osun people see the fight as between Adeleke of PDP and Oyetola of APC;
and for sure, it comes down to the party you belong. That will surely break
Omisore but not take a shine away from his popularity.
