Charming Ayo Thompson

Q: You are a woman with a great personality; a radio and TV presenter, you blog, you are a speaker; what else don’t you do? Laughs.
Lol. Thank God for everything and thank you very much! I'm sure there are a number of things I don't do :-)
Q: Before the Blog, the popular TV show you present along with your friends, you were not seen by many unlike the way people hear you on radio. A lot of people discovered a lot about you, like how you dress, the movement of your eyes, Laugh and at a point in time, you have even shed a tear. How would you describe Ayo as a presenter on radio and same Ayo on the Blog? also, which of the two stages gave you more in terms of your career and audience?
Hmmm... I want to believe that Ayo Thompson on radio and on TV is one and the same person. However, you're right, there's a way that TV shows a bit more of your personality because here communication is not just verbal ie what people hear but also your body language. I am more expressive on TV and I tend to get more excited (at least most of the time!) when the cameras start rolling. Having said that, radio has provided a bigger platform to reach a wider audience. TV is fairly new and I believe in a very short while, it would catch up too.
Q: Let roll back Ayo- what was your growing up like, how many are you in your family?
I am grateful to God for blessing me with a wonderful family. I am from a large family - nuclear and extended, and we were all brought up in an atmosphere of love.
I was born into a Muslim family, however along with my Mum, I became a Christian at quite a young age. Being raised as a Christian influenced my early life and thankfully largely impacts the woman that I am today. I was raised with Christian values and the sense of good morals - to love God. In addition to love, is also to respect and treat the next person well.
My mum had and still has a huge influence on who I am. She taught me how to love God, be open and good to people, be diligent in my work and in many other ways.
Q: Who influenced your life the more between your dad and Mum?
Lol, my mum. However, in addition to sharing his name, I bear certain great similar characteristics with my Dad.
Q: What did you miss as a teen or if you are to get back to yourself as a teenager again, what would you have done correctly?
Hmmmm... Maybe not give too much thought to people's opinion. As teenagers, we are so conscious of what people think about us but we forget that even though we cannot stop people from having opinions, we have the power to determine how much it affects us.
Q: While growing up, did you think you will be who you are today?
No, I don't think so. My mum raised us up to dream BIG (lol) and of course my God is very great! I desired to do great things but I didn't quite envisage it would be in this expression.
Q: You are a Christian and you speak about it proudly- which is good. Do you have a ministry you anchor?
Let me say that my relationship with God is the most important thing that could have ever happened to me. It literally transforms me daily and I am forever grateful to God! I work with a number of ministries including Praying Women Circle, 1 + The One (a Christian blog focused on building relationships), Ladies Monthly Prayer Session (LMPS) and a number of ministries in my church.
Q: What is it that people mistake about you or don’t really know about you?
That I am a very serious person *bones face* lol... Yes, I can be serious but with my nearest and dearest; I like to be very very goofy!!
Q: Well, I know you don’t like men that take too many selfies-(laughs) so apart from that, what else don’t you like about some guys?
Lol.. Let me just say that the statement about not liking men who take selfies was said tongue-in-cheek, please take all the selfies you want oh! (just joking). I think rather than focus on what I don't like, I would talk about what makes a great guy for me - strength in character, considerate, compassionate, generous, people-person, responsible and diligent.
Q: What do you think make a woman earn respect from men?
Mehn.... That's a bit of a difficult question because men are so different! What works for A might not work for B (lol) but generally speaking I would say that the way you carry yourself and the way you make him feel. The way a woman carries herself or sees herself is usually how others will treat her. You are priceless, a gem, carry yourself that way, let men see and be inspired to handle with care :-) Also, treat people with respect, no matter who they are or what they have. It endears people to you and they want to respect you too.
Q: Is it right for a lady to ask a man for marriage in your view- no disrespect to other people’s view?
No disrespect but nahhh... I believe the man finds, and consequently asks.
Q: What is your aspiration for 2017?
To consolidate on the work done in 2016, work harder and trust God to give increase even beyond my input.
Q: Is there anyone you will like to say thank you to for being there for you throughout 2016?
My mum! My wonderful sister and best friend Dolapo, my siblings, my family (Aunts, Uncles, Cousins), PWC.
Q: Do you ever frown because you smile and laugh a lot?
LOL... It's interesting that people remark that I smile a lot because when I was younger, I could frown or 'bone' for Africa but thank God for saving me lol... I think I am trying to make up for all those years of frowning and also understanding the power of a smile! So yes, of course I frown but I want to believe that I smile more :-) :-)
Q: Have you won any award?
Yes, thank God I have! 2016 was a great year and I won a number of awards for presenting on TV and also for presenting on radio!
Q: What would be your wish for this great country Nigeria in 2017?
I pray that God will help Nigeria and Nigerians. We need help in restoring the glory of our great and wonderful country and also for Nigerians to be people of great integrity.
Q: What do you enjoy doing the most when you want to relax?
Sleep!  In addition to sleep, I read 'soft' books (romance, fiction etc), go out to nice restaurants, watch a movie.
Q: Do you have anything to tell your fans?
Thank you very much indeed for your love and support. Every word of encouragement or compliment means a lot! May your dreams come through in Jesus Name.
