The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, expressed confidence that he would secure the ticket of his party, APC, for a second term in office despite his ongoing trial with his predecessor and Party national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
Mr Oshiomhole is believed to be backing another APC governorship aspirant, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, for the 2020 governorship election.
The incumbent governor has expressed his stance while hosting APC leaders in Eredo local government:
“The last time an incumbent ran for governorship in our party in the state, it was a consensus. It will happen again; we will all agree on consensus.
“Whether direct or indirect primary, you, the people, will vote. Our plan is on the election, not the primaries,” says the governor - Mr Obaseki.
