Nigeria security operatives gone too far

The reports of the killing of a Remo Stars player, by an operative of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police sparked great civil protests in the city of Sagamu-Ogun State. The player who popularly referred to as "KAKA" was said to be arrested by the police squad who eventually died while with them. 

While the operatives initially want to try and deny the details of his death, more revelations have come out that the operatives were 100 percent of the know how of the death of the promising defender.

Following the outcry and public disturbance, The Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, announced the disbandment of the Zonal Intervention Squad, Obada-Oko, Ogun State.

The Minister of Youth and Sports has condemn the barbaric act of the police operatives; Dare Sunday said “The death of the young player of Remo Stars, Tiamiyu Kazeem, is unfortunate and unwarranted; while I sympathise with his family, Remo Stars and the entire football fraternity, his death must not be swept under the carpet. I therefore call on the police high command to probe this unfortunate incident and bring the culprit to book. We have a responsibility to ensure the safety of lives and the police must understand the sanctity of lives. Those paid to protect the citizens should not be the ones snuffing lives out of them."

The Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, has ordered the Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), DIG Anthony Ogbizi to, with immediate effect, take over investigations into the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate death of Remo Stars player - Tiamiyu Kazeem.
