Edo 2020: Obaseki in-between APC & PDP Ticket

Edo 2020: PDP speaks on automatic ticket for Gov. Obaseki - Daily ...

The game has turn up in he race for the september governorship battle in Edo State.
The Incumbent governor Godwin Obaseki, is not the full house favourite of the APC, as some faction who are loyalist of the APC chairman Adams Oshiomhole has backed Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

The Obaseki mandate forum led by Mr Nathaniel Momoh has picked up the form for Obaseki while Pastor Osagie has also picked up form for the governorship primaries.

Governor Obaseki and Pastor Ize-Iyamu, will slug it out in the direct primary of the party on 22 June.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has slated the governorship election in the state for Sept. 19, 2020.

Mr Nathaniel Momoh said of the governor:

“Our friends in the media, it would amaze you to know, that the N22.5 million for the purchase of this forms was sourced from like minds who have the enthronement of good governance,” said Momoh.

“We are confident that the will of the people will manifest in an unmistakable term on June 22, when our party conducts its primaries for the standard flag bearer in the governorship race.

“We are convinced that no other name among those whose names are being touted qualifies as the incumbent and performing Gov. Godwin Obaseki.

“We are optimistic that his pedigree will make him emerge winner to lead the party to the democratic contest in which he will again emerge winner to continue to boost the state revenue and infrastructure,” Momoh said.

While Mr Momoh and others are working to make sure that Obaseki remain the flag bearer of the APC come June 22, it looks like the governor and his team are leaving no option closed - should the Oshiomhole candidate win the primaries.

There is already rumors of the governor diverting to the PDP if that happens, and the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Edo State, Tony Aziegbemi, has not kill the fire of the rumors.

According to Aziegbemi, “Our doors are opened. Governor Obaseki is our governor in the State. If he wants to join the PDP, he is free to do so.
Edo 2020: Mixed feelings in APC, PDP ahead governorship primaries

“But will he get an automatic ticket? The answer is an emphatic no. He has to go through the processes.”

He insisted that even if National Working Committee of the PDP considers given Obaseki a waiver, he will still get to the delegates to explain to them why he should be given the ticket and all that. So it’s a process and that process is open to all Nigerians,” he said.

“So our doors are not closed at all. We feel that Governor Obaseki is being humiliated, maltreated and being given the wrong stick by his party.”
