Interview with EL' Grace “You are beautiful”

It was a Pleasure to have El' Grace on albument. Grace is a Gospel Singer who also sings gracefully. She narrated the birth of her song "you are beautiful" and how it was revealed to her. She talks on her style of music and more.

Grace Oluwadiya (El’ Grace) is surely not new to many in the Gospel Circle; from when you started with your first Song “You are beautiful” how has it been so far?

Yes you are correct. It's been awesome. I did my album release concert in 2019 at Terra kulture in lagos, nigeria. Featuring The Bekes, BJ sax, Minister Yetunde Are, Minister Efe Nathan and a couple more people.
Also, since then I have released 2 new songs audio and video. All been played on TV stations across Nigeria.

· Was there the fear of acceptance?

Of course, Considering my style of music and singing is totally different, I have a totally different music background of classical music and hymns. This makes me sound different, but I take it as my unique style.

· “You are beautiful” was your first child musically, and indeed it was worth starting with - as the content is glorious! Tell us about the making – Title – lyrics- Rhythm. What was the feeling like - before you premiere the song and video, during recording and after, did you ask for people’s opinion, did you compare your song and video with other artist, did you have to do it all-over again to stand your satisfaction?

I love that song, “ You are beautiful” it is a song birthed from revelation. The testimony behind this song is long, but I will say some of it. It was during a 21 day fast God gave me that song. I worked with 6 different producers before I got the exact sound God gave me. But did not release it until I got the right sound. It took me 3 years. And I recorded it one time and I was satisfied and fulfilled. The day I got the flier God showed me angels sitting on the top corner of that flier in my sleep. A day before I released it, I saw life angels in the sky following me everywhere I went and they were on top of my house till almost morning. I tried taking pictures but each time I tried they disappeared to reappear after I turn off my camera. It was glorious. The song is about the beauty of God, which even though you can see it in His creation, you can only understand it by revelation.

· How did “You are beautiful” inspire you to continue with other songs?

Before I started recording you are beautiful, I had written like 9 other songs, and I have only recorded one if it, which is “ I am free”. Seeing my music come to life was a great encouragement. Also, my producer Olaolu Ajibade (Papylulu), was the one that got it right, his ability to interpret my songs well was a huge encouragement.

· Every one set a goal when starting a project, from 2017, when you started professional till now, have you met your expectation, or have you exceed it?

Yes I have met my goals, at least 90%, but when you love success and you are success oriented, you can never have enough. I am always pushing myself. I am my greatest critic.

· What does you fan say of you?

Some people told me my song brought them to tears. Some called me a blessing to this generation and the ones to come. The ones that get to me most is when people that do not understand my language give me great reviews and remarks. All glory to God

· Every project either successful or not do bring some sort of recognition, Thank GOD yours has been successful. How would you describe your acceptance and new fame?

I will not say fame, but acceptance has been great. The fact that my family supports what I do is amazing and I am thankful. Also, the way people show their support surprises and overwhelms me. I always try my best to acknowledge as many people as I can to show my appreciation. Because I am, truly grateful.

· You have several songs now, any project coming up?

I working on video for my song “ we thank You” too many people are requesting for the video. Also, I want to do more videos of the songs on my album so people can get the messages behind the songs more.

· As a practicing Nurse, how have you been coping with covid-19?

I thank God for protection from Covid. I was at the forefront working with those affected directly, and I still am. My song “Agbanilagbatan” was a song of testimony for God's goodness during this time. It was a little traumatic at first, I found hope, courage and faith to go on from the word of God. Truly faith is the shield and the truth that the word of God says about us is our belt. I stood on the word of God with faith and He is always faithful.

· Have you thought of doing any song in Ekiti dialect? Yes I have , I think I will

· As a woman from Land of Honour and Integrity, do you eat (iyan) pounded yam regularly? (Laughs)

Laugh laugh, Of course, Iyan and Egunsi. Not always though

· Thanks for your time EL' Grace; Album wishes you all the best.

Thank you so much for having me. God bless you
