2023: We will support you - Gov. Abiodun tells Osinbajo

Ahead of the candidate who will represent the ruling party(APC) for the 2023 presidential party, every aspirant is trying to have a rapport with close ally.

While Osinbajo may have cut his heights from Lagos, and many may have believed he was a Lagosian for a long time, the vice president is really from Ikenne in Ogun State.

The no 2 man who got the support of his governor and people could probably have done a plus and minus and may have come to the conclusion that his people will be there for him more than any other state or persons. While he will surely still visit other state and canvass for support, he knows that Lagos is out it; as the lagoon state length and breadth will go to Tinubu.

That does mean the south west will be divided. And delegates of this region may probably not go for the deep pocket but may priorities other factors.

Governor Dapo said:

“The vice president’s presence here is a homecoming.

“We are pleased with his decision to run for the office of the president. He is competent and committed to leading the country in a higher capacity.

“Your steadfastness, integrity, and character are all well known. You are serving this country and the president meritoriously for the last seven years as the vice president.

“We have no doubt that you will do well as the president and we will support you.”

Osinbajo said: “The Vice President position is an opportunity to serve and I have served with utmost loyalty. I put everything into my work. I am a candidate who will hit the ground running when I am elected.

“I have the requisite knowledge to do the job and build on what others have put in place. My presidency will bring peace, unity and development to the country.

“After all, I have learned, if called upon to serve the nation, should I say No? I have decided that I will run for the office. I have sworn an oath to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It is an oath to our people, our children and the future of Nigeria. I owe nobody else any allegiance outside the oath.”
