BREAKING: President Tinubu Has Dissolved The NNPCL Board

President Tinubu has removed the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Mele Kyari. The president also dissolved its board, removing the Chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on information and strategy, announced this in a statement on Wednesday morning. Onanuga said Tinubu invoked his powers under section 59(2) of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021 to carry out the sweeping reconstitution, citing the need for “enhanced operational efficiency, restored investor confidence, and a more commercially viable NNPC”. He announced that Tinubu has now approved a new 11 - man board, which has Engineer Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the Group CEO, and Ahmadu Musa Kida as non-executive chairman. Create Emergency On Security, Welfare And Economy - Ndume tells Tinubu

Ali Ndume has shaken the table again on this administration. The lawmaker representing Borno South Senatorial District, has urged President Tinubu to declare a state of emergency on the nation’s security, economic and welfare. Ndume made this call on Friday during an interview on ‘Politics Daily’, with Channels Television. “Let the President forget about everything and concentrate on three things – security, welfare of citizens and the economy. “His attention should go there as number 1, then he should create a state of emergency in those areas,” he stated. Ndume criticized the President’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. According to him, the President acted in a wrong move by that action on March 18 following the protracted political crisis in Rivers State.
