Roberto Martinez appointed New Head Coach Of Portugal

Spanish football tactician and former Belgium Manager - Roberto Martínez Montoliu has replaced Fernando Manuel as the new Portugal Manager.

Both Fernando Santos and Roberto Martínez resigned their appointment after their surprised exit at the quarter-final defeat by Morocco and group stage exit for Belgium.

"I am very happy to represent one of the national teams with the best talent in the world," said Martinez.

"I am very excited to be here," said Martinez. "From the first time I spoke with the president of the federation I knew this was a sporting project that would excite me," he added.

"I understand there are great expectations and big objectives, but there is a great team of people at the federation and I have great excitement that together we can achieve those objectives."

Portugal football president Fernando Gomes said: "This is an important moment for the national team."

Martinez is a very experienced manager and will have no problem settling down at his new office.

However, he now has to start planning on how to manage the star studded national team just like Belgium, but now, a Mr. Cristiano Ronaldo role must also be studied.
