Jubilation In Kano As Supreme Court Swing Governorship Judgment In Favor Of NNPP

The Supreme Court Of Nigeria has faulted the judgements of the Appeal Court and the Election Petitions which invalidated the election of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf of the NNPP.

The five member panel le by John Okoro quashed the hope of the APC who were already rejoicing that the Judgment will go in their favor.

The Tribunal had in September overturned the election victory of Yusuf by deducting 165, 663 votes from the total of 1,019,602 that the the Independent National Electoral Commission said he scored. The tribunal then declared Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the election.

Not satisfied, the embattled Yusuf filed an appeal at the Appeal Court, but the Appeal Court upheld the decision of the tribunal.

But the Supreme Court on Friday, held that Yusuf who is of the New Nigeria People’s Party was the winner and it was wrong that his votes were deducted.
