Obasa Given Red Card In Lagos Assembly

Lagos State Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, aged - 52, has been impeached.

He first emerged as Speaker on June 8, 2015. He was serving his third term in office before he was impeached.


32 members of the Lagos Assembly voted for his impeachment, and he has been replaced by his deputy - Mojisola Lasbat Meranda of the Apapa Constituency 1.
Mojisola now becomes the first female to lead the  Lagos State assembly.

The speaker who was absent on holiday during the exercise of his impeachment, has recently had issue with the Lagos State governor over a policy. Recently on the same matter, the president (Tinubu) spoke against the action of the speaker.


Obasa was accused of allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement.

Obasa was also accused of being contemptuous of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.






He was said to have been questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over the alleged infractions.
