Nigerian Fashion Designers are improving daily with modern styles. Nowadays, there is no doubt that the country can boast of a huge plethora of talented individuals. As a result, more people are getting acquainted with the business as they earn a living from it. Although new in the industry, Beerich Outfitters, carved from Beerich World has been able to carve a niche for itself in the fashion industry. Owned and manage by a couple, Christopher and Efe,Beerich Outfitters have so far established a striking name for all fashion lovers.In an interview session with Cindy Amos, EfeBeerich shares her experiences, how the business came into existence and how she’s been managing the business with her husband.

@ Introduce yourself
I’m Efe Momodu, from Edo state, Ekpoma to be precise;I’m married with a beautiful daughter, Nicole.

@ What did you study?
I studied biochemistry from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma

@Since you studied biochemistry, how did you find yourself in fashion?

Fashion has always been my passion right from my teenage years. I started sketching when I was about 15 and I keep them in my archive, hoping that someday, someone will put on the designs. While i was in school studying biochemistry, some of my friends saw my sketches and they were marveled, they said the designs were really nice, they took some, made it for themselves and people commend the designs on them. Then, they always encourage me to go into fashion since I’m good at it. So after school I thought it was wise for me to pursue my dream and feel fulfilled. That was how Beerich World came into existence.

@ How did you come about the name Beerich?

Beerich is actually the name people call my husband when we were in school because I dated him throughout my school life. They call him Beerich because he dresses richly, he loves fashion, he loves designs. People also attach my name to his by calling me EfeBeerich. So when we got married, we decided to start up something with the name and make it a household name.

@ What is Beerich World all about?

Under Beerich World we have Beerich Outfitters which deals with fashion and beauty, like sewing and designs, make-over and unisex hair salons. Also we have Beerich Studios where we take modelling pictures and other kinds of pictures like wedding pictures, birthday pictures and other social events. We also recruit and train models for runways and commercial jobs, it’s called the Beerich Mode view.

@ How do you find the business?

It’s fun because I really love what I am doing,I enjoy what I’m doing.

@ What can you say about you and your husband managing the same business?

It’s been fantastic. The whole idea makes the work easy and less strenuous. Since he also loves fashion, he manages the business with so much passion. With our combined effort, we’ve been able to take the business to an amazing height. Besides, the business has created much intimacy and unity between the both of us.

@ How do you separate family affairs with business?

We try as much as possible to keep family issues outside the business.

@ Do you attend fashion events and exhibit your outfits?

Yes we do. We also sponsor some fashion events, like NMA, we sponsored the clothing.

@ How do you want to see Beerich World in the next five years?

I am imagining an edifice called Beerich worldand will be known both locally and internationally like the famous Channel, Prada, Versace, Gucci ………and lots more.

@ What are you giving back to the society?

We intend having a foundation soon. The foundation is to cater for the less privileged and motherless. In life, you have to give back to your society and we strongly believe in that principle, we believe in giving.

@ What are the challenges involved in the fashion business?

The major challenge I face daily in my business is the problem of erratic power supply. Stable and constant electricity supply is one thing that can grow any business anywhere in the world and Nigeria lacks that. This electricity problem is drastically affecting my production, even though the generator is available, purchase of fuel takes a lot from ones purse.

@ What makes you happy about your business?

Seeing someone putting on my design makes me happy, it gives me joy.

@ Do you intend organizing a fashion event?
Yes, the purpose of the show is to exhibit Beerich collections and celebrate Beerich models. In some few years to come, we will come up with something global, encompassing and not restricted to Beerich alone.
