Q: Apart from the fact that your name is joy bucknor, who is joy
bucknor?
Joy
Bucknor is a voice, singing and crying out for mercy to GOD for this
generation- just say that Joy Bucknor is a voice of reasoning.
Q: I will take you straight to your music-Mercy. That song is
something inspirational and a reflection of the world we are in. What is your
experience to have put together such a wonderful song?
Like
every human being that GOD has put in time, I have been through a lot of ups
and downs,I have seen strange things happen in my life and in the lives of
people, I have seen the good, bad and ugly, and it seems like the bad and ugly
outweighs the good in this world. I then realized that this is so because
we took the creator of the world out of the equation, this drove me crying for
mercy like a woman that has gone crazy, it’s a serious matter.
Q: Have you won any award with the song- Mercy?
Yes.
I won this year's CAMA award for the song mercy even though I just
released it. I believe it’s because everyone could relate with the message
of the song.
Q: What is the acceptance of the song like?
I
have been getting tremendous love for the song since I dropped it, It just
needs a little more push for more people to hear it and feel the impact.
Q: It’s your birthday is one of your song, but far different in
rhythm to Mercy. Does it mean you can do reggae like music?
Definitely; i can
do different genre of music and that’s because I love all kinds of good
music,as far as it appeals to my ears and emotion.
Q: What has been your major challenge in your career?
Laughing
out loud(lol) a very good question- the major challenge in my career has
been the greed of some people in the media,I call them the Goliath of your
music career, they request for a pound of your flesh before they can play
your song but they play the international artists songs for free. If you
are not strong in your faith, in a bid to breakthrough you would be forced
to go rob a bank, sell your soul to the devil and if possible commit
suicide. GOD forbid this in my case. Though i have met very good ones.
Q: Are we to expect something soon from you?
OH-
most definitely,very soon, cos i'm here to stay, GOD has called me, predestined
me for this, don’t worry, I’m no one hit wonder woman.
Q: How would you like to see Nigeria and the world at large?
It
might sound like I live in a fantasy world, but I believe, if we can
change from our ways that has been cankered with a shameful, devastating,
pervasive and corrupting bitterness- the world at large would be heaven on
earth. God himself would come down and live with us here. It’s so sad that the
world has chosen to go to hell-things- It can get better if we do better.
Q: How would you rate the music industry in Nigeria?
The
music industry is doing great, on a scale of 1 to 10- I’ll rate it 5, but
if love for one another increases, I see it going to 10.
Q: Your scarf is the colors of Nigeria, is it your new identity?
Yes
oo my people, it’s my new identity. it’s a cross I must carry to ensure
Nigerians become patriotic. I’m on an infectious movement of hope, peace
and love for my country Nigeria. I have a dream that the nations of the world
would run to Nigeria for greener pastures, that our children will grow up to
see a blessed nation and thank GOD that they were born Nigerians.
Q: Where do you like going to the most when you want to relax?
I
like going to the place of prayer, of deep meditation and to the place of much
learning, I find out I’m more relaxed in these places. I come out refreshed and
motivated.
Q: Do you have anything to tell your fans?
I
want my fans to know that I love them, and I pray for them. I want them to
remember to stay in God because nothing on earth will last forever. I really
