Nigerian enchanting
gospel artist, Ifeanyi Orji popularly called Henrisoul recently released a hit
song titled: DERE DU (PEACE). He spoke with albument.com exclusively on his hit
song with the video which is really inspiring and more about himself.
How did you get
into music?
I got into music at an early age and by 12, during the annual
children’s day conference held at my parent’s church, I got my first
opportunity to sing before an audience. The amazing experience of that day
inspired me to follow the path of music. That was how it all started. I had the
opportunity to lead the entire church in praise and worship, and surprisingly I
did a great job and was so proud of myself as the whole congregation watched in
awe. “Na so the journey start o”
Did you have 100% supports
when you started your music career?
When I decided to pick up music as a career at 16, my dad was
totally against it. We all know how parents react when your peers are working
hard in school to become lawyers, doctors, engineers etc., and you come home to
tell them you want to do music. Well we give glory to God because I remained
focused and right now music has taken me outside the shores of Africa on
several occasions including for a concert I hosted in London England, United
Kingdom. Now my parents are very proud of me and we can only hope for the best.
What was growing
up like?
Growing up was really interesting, I think it will be a story for
another day, but all I can say for now is that there were a lot of hurdles and
rough season’s, but we thank God for his mercies, we are still standing as a
family and God has been faithful.
Apart from singing
- what else do you do?
I am an entrepreneur, a creative director, youth leader, an
influencer, and graphic artist.
Before you started
out on your own, who are the artists you look up to?
I really love Bob Marley, Kirk Franklin, Bright chimezie and many
others. And yes- Michael Jackson too, who had a huge influence on many of us.
Growing up, his music was everywhere- so you had no choice but to like him.
Let talk about
your new song Dere Du which is making many excited already; why are so
many people having goose pimple about the song, Is it the video or the lyrics
or because listening to it over and over could make you cry?
Dere du is a blessed song in these trying times. I always thank
God for finding me worthy to receive the inspiration to release it to this
generation; it could have been any other artist. Dere du carries a very strong
message of “peace” which is one of the major reasons it ministers to people on
a very personal level. It sends peaceful chills down the spine.
You recently had
Cobhams Asuquo call you out for your new song Dere Du, is it already a sign of
the acceptance of the song, and how those it feels to sing along side him
playing the piano?
Cobhams is an amazing man. Yes, it is a thing of joy that he loves
the song and endorses it. It’s not our first time meeting; I actually featured
him on one of the tracks in my forth coming album when we met in London in 2017.
Watch out for more amazing sounds.
What does the song
Dere Du means to you?
Dere du means different things at different times to me, depending
on how I feel at that particular moment. But for right now, Dere Du is my
peace.
Do you have anyone
you want to also give credit for the success of this song?
Yes, the producer of the song; Olumide Iyun.He really gave his
best during the production of the track. And guess what? He produced it without
collecting a dime. I also want to thank Metanoia Media, they have been there
for me and we have been working tirelessly to give our fans the best. God bless
my video director Oluyinka Davids, and everyone that participated in this
project. Special shout out to Claire expressions, Xavi Moore and Sacoella
fabrics.
What do you think
people who are listening to this song for the first time will take away from
it?
The clear message which the song carries is PEACE.
Are we expecting
any project soonest or Dere Du will still fly for some time?
Yes, my team and I are currently working to produce more amazing
kingdom sounds and visuals to keep our fans happy and wanting more.
How do you relax?
I watch movies; listen to sermons, chill with my friends.
Album wishes you
all the best Henrisoul.
