Many Prominent personalities have celebrated Otunba Gbenga Daniel, who is 70 today.

He was born on 6 April, 1956. A Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. A former Governor of Ogun State between 2003-2011.

He is the founder and chairman of Kresta Laurel Limited, a company into elevators/escalators and associated engineering configurations. A company he founded when he was 34.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, wrote of him:

“Today, I celebrate Senator Gbenga Daniel, a renowned engineer, successful entrepreneur, prominent politician, and longtime ally and friend, on his milestone 70th birthday,” the President said.

“As a mark of the close relationship Otunba and I have built, in the build-up to my election and inauguration as governor of Lagos State in 1999, OGD worked closely with me and others to ensure my election victory,” Tinubu added.

Tinubu noted that Daniel, popularly known as OGD, had built a reputation through his professional career and service to the country, highlighting his role as founder of Kresta Laurel, an electro-mechanical engineering firm established in 1990.

“The enviable heights the company has attained at present should not be surprising given Otunba’s business acumen, hunger for success and determination,” he stated.

“Part of his legacy as governor included the initiation of the first agro-allied cargo airport in the state and the establishment of Tai Solarin University of Education,” he said.

He further commended Daniel’s political resilience, describing him as “a progressive politician and a true Afenifere,” while noting his return to the All Progressives Congress after earlier affiliations with the Alliance for Democracy and the Peoples Democratic Party.governor

“As Otunba clocks 70, I thank him for his service to Ogun State and Nigeria, and his commitment to the socio-political and economic development of Nigeria,” the President said.

Tinubu wished the senator good health and many more years of impactful service, praying that his contributions to the country would continue to grow.

The General Overseer Of The RCCG - Pastor Adeboye, said of the former governor on Monday, while ministering at the senator’s 70th birthday and thanksgiving service held at Abraham Tabernacle, Sagamu:

Our beloved Gbenga Daniel was a governor in Ogun State and I have been living in the state since 1983. I have been through the hands of many governors, including the military, but I want to say that Otunba Gbenga Daniel has been quite exceptional.

“In dealing with the church of God, he has not played politics with the church of God, he has not played politics with any of us. He has fulfilled every promise he made; he is not the type who will make a promise in the first term and fulfil it in the second term.

“If you are looking for original Omoluwabi, Gbenga Daniel is one and people like him are quite few. And that is why when he approached me and said that I would be the one to say a few words during his 70th birthday, I said I would alter my busy schedule and be there.

“I respect you, sir. The Redeemed Christian Church of God respects you and wishes you a happy 70th birthday.”

Taking his message from the book of Psalms 90 vs 12, Adeboye urged people to be conscious of their sojourn in life because they are bound to give account of their deeds one day when confronted with their maker.

He explained that those who want to end well after their sojourn on earth must fear God, prioritise holiness and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.

Adeboye disclosed that irrespective of status, what is certain is that everyone will one day give account of how they conduct their affairs on earth and the more reason why every soul must embrace the fear of God and live to please their creator.
